Miami-Dade County Environmental Resources Management (DERM)

Asbestos Program Coordinator

Served as head of the asbestos program responsible for regulating the industry. Inspected and directed field inspections of demolition and renovation operations and recommended enforcement action, including cease and desist orders when required. Important undertakings included the demolition of the Orange Bowl and major implosions. Appointed by the county manager to a team of professionals evaluating the credentials of potential county vendors (consultants) in the planning, land surveying, engineering and architectural fields.

Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT)

Various Professional Engineering Positions

Managed the Miami District Utilities office, Design Units and a Project Development and Environment (PD&E) squad. Appointed by the District Secretary to elite teams with specific goals.

Carr Smith & Associates

Structural Engineer

Designed concrete, steel and timber structures. Managed special designs such as transmission towers and product approvals for Miami-Dade county. Participated in the structural design of the Metro Rail mass transit system. Made structural assessment inspections of buildings under construction as well as existing ones.
